Single Player Walkthrough
Your
first exposure to Myth 2 is probably going to be with the Single player maps. These
maps are all parts of a larger story and will pit you against some of the most dangerous
beings imaginable. On this page, I will walk you through each of the single player
maps and show you how to beat them. Keep in mind that the way that I did these maps
is NOT the only way to beat a map or complete an objective. If you ask 10 players
how to beat a particular map, you are likely to get 10 different, albeit perfectly
acceptable, answers.
"Willow Creek" is your first map and
is a good place to get your feet wet. You will start off with one dwarf, 4 bowmen
and a few warriors. Follow the path into the town and stop near the big clearing.
If you wait patiently, some of the ghasts will come to you and you can take them
out with your bowmen from a good distance or blast them with your dwarf. Once you
have gained more experience with your units, you can re-do Willow Creek with just your
dwarf. This map can be completed with a minimum of running your troops around the
town. Use your warriors to chase down ghasts that are alone or in pairs.
Willow Creek is basically about numbers. Once you have killed all the ghasts, you
have completed the map. Im not sure exactly how many ghasts are on the maps in
relation to the various difficulty levels, but if I recall correctly, there are 214 of
them on Legendary difficulty. The most important thing about this map is watching
your back. Make sure you dont get snuck up on from behind or from the side.
"Salvation"
is your next challenge. Again you get bowmen, warriors and a couple of dwarfs. Your goal here is to rescue the villagers that are being held prisoner at the end of the path beyond the cemetery. Beware though, they are heavily guarded by Brigands. When the level starts, start your units marching straight ahead. Once you have proceeded a bit, check your overhead map for a couple of Ghasts that will be headed your way from your right. Use your archers to take them out. One word about this map its stunning. If you have a good set of headphones, now is the time to use them. The rain falling and the sounds of the forest around you completely immerse you in your own little world. Anyway, back to the rescue at hand. Once you have dispatched the two Ghasts, start moving slowly up the trail. You will see an archway leading to a cemetery and to your goal beyond. You will see two Brigands in the archway. You can manage to sneak some of your Warriors around the left side through the marsh and cut off the Brigands retreat. If the Brigands run off, they will sound the alarm and you will have a bunch of them to worry about. If you miss the Brigands, make sure you send all of your Warriors for the battle thats coming. If you are lucky you can defeat the Brigands without losing all of your warriors. Position your Bowmen in a horizontal line under the archway facing the direction that the Brigands ran. Your dwarfs are indispensable, but the rain WILL make things difficult for their bombs to be effective. If you are successful in defeating the Brigands with your warriors, attack the compound and free the villagers. They will automatically begin walking towards your final destination. If your warriors are defeated, you can still complete the map with your bowmen and dwarfs. If you use your dwarfs to open the compound, they will do it with their bombs, so be careful that you dont kill any of the prisoners. When all of the prisoners are free, start back the way you came. Watch your overhead map as you will now begin to see lots of red dots. If you have a good enough head start, this wont be much of a concern and you can even have some fun since the Ghasts tend to line up real nice for you and you can blast them to bits (weather permitting). Keep walking until you reach your reinforcements and continue on until the level ends."Down a Broken Path"
is a really fun map, but its also the first one that you will probably lose horribly hehe. On this map, you have to escort Rurick safely to the town of Tallow. As you move along, you will come to a 3 way trail. To the right will be a several Soulless. Put your bowmen on the high ground thats near you and try to take the Soulless out with a dwarf. From the direction you just came, a massive amount of Thrall will start towards you. If you are lucky, your dwarf can inflict a whole lot of damage here and make it easy for your warriors to mop up the walking dead. Once you completely kill off your most recent threats, keep moving in Ruricks direction and towards Tallow. He will remind you that you need to keep moving and you will probably have to fight off the urge to kill him yourself. Your next major challenge will be when you cross the river. Approach slowly as there are two thrall hiding underwater. Position half of your warriors on either side of the path and move towards the water to where the Thrall emerge and try to get Rurick. Let them get out of the water and then you can take them out with your warriors. Once you cross the river, there will be a farmhouse and a couple of roads. Keep moving with Rurick and watch your back. Fast moving Ghols will come up behind you once you pass the house. Try to take them out quickly as the dark forces are building up for a final assault on Tallow. Once you have killed off these threats, move as fast as you can to the gates of the town. If you want, you can try to make a final stand there at the open gate, but its best to just get everyone inside. The gates will close and you and Rurick will be safe.MORE TO COME...
